What makes this product sustainable?
At Eugenie, we do the research to make it easy for you to find products that you can feel good about purchasing, using, and wearing.
Each new designer we work with starts with a conversation about sustainability and how it relates to their brand and products.
Sustainability can mean many different things, we tried to break it down for you in a way that is easy to understand.
Natural Materials
Kowtow garments are exclusively made from 100% organic cotton. As the most commonly used fiber in global textile production, choosing to source organic cotton has a significant environmental impact. Through non-toxic and minimal intervention growing techniques, organic cotton farming has the potential to significantly reduce the potential for global warming, soil erosion, and energy waste compared to conventional methods.
People
Kowtow only uses material that is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). By being built on four pillars of criteria around Organic Fibers, Ecological and Social Impact, Processing Stages, and Third Party Certifications, consumers can be assured that GOTS certified products are ecologically and socially responsible.
Additionally, all of Kowtow’s organic cotton is SA8000 and Fairtrade certified. This means you can feel confident that garments purchased from this brand were made with fibers processed in safe facilities that practice fair wages and sustainable trading.
Circularity
This brand offers a complimentary repair service for the duration of their garments’ lifecycles. Once these garments reach the true end of their life, they may be sent back and repurposed as part of Kowtow’s Take Back program.
