This book explores the intersection of culture, design, and the act of sitting through the lens of chair design. In this anthropology of chairs, Sicilian designer Matteo Guarnaccia examines the diverse ways in which seating reflects social and cultural practices, conducting field research across eight of the world’s most populated countries. Collaborating with local design studios, Guarnaccia reinterprets the everyday object of the chair as a symbol of identity, community, and the tension between global and local expressions in modern design.
